Part Eleven
“Hi hunny!” My mom greeted us at
the airport with the rest of the family.
“Hi mom!” I ran up to her and gave
her a hug. “Hey Macki!”
“Zacy!” He was happy to see me too.
We all said our hellos and got out of the airport. People were starting to
notice us so we drove home before anything crazy started to happen.
“So what’s up with the whole moving
thing?” Tay asked and we got into our van.
“Well we aren’t moving, we are just
going to Michigan temporarily. Your father said it was only going to be for a
few months or so. So we will be back sooner or later.” We were on our way
home.
“So who’s the flavor of the
week?” Jessi turned around to face me.
“I don’t switch flavors, I am good
at sticking to one.” I raised my eyebrow at her.
“That’s not what your ex said.”
She’s always trying to be a smart-ass. Teenagers these days, so aggressive.
“Well Randi is here to stay so
don’t even start your crap.” I knew Randi would be around for a while. How
long is a while, well that’s up to time. We arrived at our house and got all
of our stuff inside. We conjugated into the living room for a little family
meeting.
“Well my boss is sending me to
Michigan to straighten some things out. It should only take me a few months to
get everything done. Since the family, with the exception of you three, is going
with me. Now boys, you will be living in L.A. You may not see this as a big deal
but we, as your parents, have to be sure you’re ready for this responsibility.
You will work when told, call us every so often to check up, and keep the house
somewhat clean. That’s just common sense though.” My dad kept going on and
on about how we have to behave and all that great stuff. I zoned out, I didn’t
really care to listen.
“Zac, do you understand?” I was
suddenly snapped back into reality.
“Completely.” I smiled. They knew I
wasn’t listing but I don’t think that bothered them too much. “So when to
you leave?”
“I two days. Our flight leaves at
10:30 am. Speaking of leaving, when did you guys plan on leaving here?” I
looked at Ike since he was the ones who made all the arrangements.
“Well the earliest we could leave is
in four days so then we are leaving to be in L.A by Friday.” I remembered
that’s when we were having our party. I totally forgot about that.
“That’s fine, but how about some
dinner, we are starving.” Our mother got up and motioned towards the door. We
were going to go out to our favorite restaurant for a nice family dinner.
“Mom I have to change first, I
can’t wear this out to dinner.” Jessi exclaimed.
“Fine, go change, but make it
quick.” Jessi disappeared into her room.
“Is she always like that now?” Tay
almost started laughing.
“She’s a teenager now, I can’t
help it.” Mom just rolled her eyes. “Well since she will take at least ten
minutes I’m going to change Zoë.” She picked up my little sis and went to
give her a fresh diaper. The rest of us just sat and waited. Mom was done before
Jessi. About fifteen minutes later Jessi appeared.
“Now we can go.” She stated.
“Are you sure, maybe we could wait
ten more minutes so you can insert your brain.” I stared at her.
“Sorry I just can’t roll out of bed
with my outfit for the day.” She said while eyeing my clothes.
“I happen to like what I‘m wearing
thank you.”
“Enough you two, let’s go.” My
dad broke it up. All of us piled into the family van. As we headed out to the
restaurant one of our cell phones rang.
“I think it’s mine.” I picked it
up. It was Randi. “Hey, what’s up?” I could feel Jessi staring at me.
“I’m just really board, I needed to
talk to you.” She was at home doing absolutely nothing. “I miss you
already.”
“I miss you too.”
“Aww, it’s Zac’s girlfriend.”
Jessi stated for everyone.
“You got a girlfriend? What girl
would want you?” Avery joked.
“Be quiet you two.” I glared at
them.
“Is that you sisters I hear?” Randi
seemed excited.
“Sadly so. I am forced to be in the
same car with them.”
“Where are you going?”
“Out to dinner.”
“Hey can I talk to one of your
sisters?” I didn’t want her to but I agreed.
“Randi wants to talk to one of…”
Before I could even finish Jessi grabbed my phone.
“Hello, I’m Jessica.” She stuck
her tongue out at me.
“Hi, I’m Randi. So are you the
oldest sister?”
“Yeah. So are you Zac’s
girlfriend?” Jessi looked at me and snickered,
“Yeah, he’s my sweetie.” Jessi
started rollin’. She found whatever Randi said so funny. I was going to punch
her. “But I know you don’t wanna hear that, seeing the fact that you are his
sister and all. But since you are, let me just say girl to girl, him and his
brothers style sucks.” I could even hear Randi laughing now too. I had to get
Jessi off the phone.
“Finally, someone agrees with me.”
I was glaring at her with my arms crossed. “Well Zac’s gonna kill me if I
don’t stop talking to you, but I can’t wait until I can meet you.”
“Same here and tell Zac to stop
whining.”
“I will.” Jessi then handed me the
phone.
“What the hell did you say to her?”
My own girlfriend talking trash about me, oh I want to know.
“Oh nothing, it’s a girl thing.”
I sighed. “It’s nothing that bad.” I could sense her rolling her eyes on
the other side of the phone.
“Well I have to go, it’s dinner
time.”
“Alright, but call me later.”
“I will.” I didn't want to get all
mushy in front of my family, but I knew she was going to make me.
“I love you hun.”
“I love you too.” I tried to say it
as quite as I could, but I knew everyone was listing. I put my phone back in my
pocket while my bothers and my sisters looked at me with their little smiles on
their faces. “What are you staring at?” I snapped at them.
“I love you too, *kissy-kissy*”
Avery pretended to make-out with the air in an attempt to make fun of me.
“Ha, ha, ha, laugh all you want.” I
stuck my tongue out at her.
“It’s okay Zac, I love you too.”
Jessi smiled at me.
“At least I have someone in my
life.”
“Oh but Zac, I love you too.” Tay
batted his eyes at me.
“Shouldn’t you be saying to your
girlfriend, oh wait that’s right you can’t get one.” He was sitting right
next to me and I could tell he was getting really red in the face.
“Okay kids, that’s enough. Let’s
eat.” My dad pulled in the parking lot. We all got out and went inside. It was
a little restaurant called Gilberts. It is a little bit out of town but we
don’t mind the drive, usually. We got a table for 9 and sat down. Tay, Macki,
and me split a pizza. It was really good. Tay, Ike, and I played the NTN game
too. It’s a multiple-choice question game where you play for points. It’s
really fun. On the way home I was forced to sit by Jessi and Zoë. I didn’t
mind Zoë at all, but I did mind Jessi.
“So you girlfriends seems really
nice. I can’t wait to meet her.” I could tell Jessi was planning something.
“Well you won’t be meeting her
anytime soon, that’s for sure.” I continued to look out the window. I
couldn’t help but think of Randi. Everything I saw reminded me of her. I think
I really am falling for her. But come on, I’m only 15. I just like her a lot,
yeah that’s it. We arrived home quicker than I expected. I was probably out in
la-la land longer than I thought.
“Get out of the car!” Jessi was
getting impatient with me.
“Sorry Princess Jess, how can I ever
make it up to you?” I put my hands together and looked at her.
“You can give me $100.” She stuck
her hand out.
“Like that would ever happen.” I
headed to the house. I was a hot night in Tulsa. It sprinkled here but just
enough to dampen the pavement. The spots under the trees were dry though. It
felt really muggy out. So once we got in the house the air was turned on.
“It’s hot.” I plopped down on my pullout bed. Tay and Ike climbed onto
theirs.
“For real, I’m sweating like a
prostitute in church.” We all giggled a little. Tay took off his shirt and
threw it on top of me.
“Excuse me, I’m not the hamper.”
I threw it back at him.
“Well you smell like one.” He
smiled.
“No, that’s just your upper lip.”
I laid down.
“Funny.” He got up and threw his
shirt in the real hamper. I swear if he gets any skinner he will disappear. How
can the girl want a piece of that? There’s nothing to get a piece of. All
three of us laid there, but we weren’t tired. Then I remembered I had to call
Randi back.
“Hi is Randi there?” Her mom
answered.
“Yeah hold on a sec Zac.” She knew
my voice already. I felt kinda special.
“Hey hun!” Randi picked up the
phone. “How was your evening?”
“Well with the exception of Jessica,
it was fine.” I heard her snicker. I still want to know what she said to my
sister.
“Don’t worry about her, she’s
just giving you a hard time. But I can’t talk long, Audrey is supposed to come
over and spend the night. You know tomorrow’s our concert.” I don’t
remember her telling me about a concert.
“What concert?”
“Oh I didn’t tell you! I must have
forgotten. The Blink-182 concert, yeah me and Audg are going.”
(*Author’s note*: I really am going
to their concert. It’s July 18th, well tomorrow since I am updating
the story tonight. I am so excited!!)
“Oh, well have fun then. Oh and
don’t let and hot Blink boys take you away from me.”
“Don’t worry, no one can take me
away from you.” There was a pause. “Well Audrey is here so I’ll talk to
you tomorrow if I can.”
“Alright, tell Audg I said hi.”
“I will, bye hun, love ya!” She
hung up. Well now I was officially bored. “What can we do?” I was hoping my
brothers had an idea.
“I don’t know. It too hot to
think.” Ike mumbled.
“The air is on.” Tay looked up.
Even though he was on the bottom bunk, Ike knew Tay was making a face. “We
could check out some fan mail. We haven’t done that in a while.” Tay
suggested. It was actually a pretty good idea.
“Yeah lets do that.” I sat up. So
all three of us asked our mom where she put it. Apparently there is a special
closet for all the mail we haven’t read. So we went to the basement and found
a closet packed tight with mail. We each decided to take one bag out of the 20
to read. We brought them to our room and each got back on our own beds. When I
opened my bag I saw so many letters. I was amazed. I dumped a pile of them onto
my bed and started sorting through them. I picked up several and opened them.
Some of them were long letters, some short, and some straight to the point.
“Listen to this one.” Ike had a
good one. “Dear Hanson, I love you guys so much! You know if I had one wish it
would be to meet you. And Taylor, I want to have your children! Love always and
forever Helen.” Ike looked down at Taylor.
“Well maybe one day when I’m horny
enough I’ll show up on her doorstep and give her a surprise.” Tay rolled his
eyes at Ike. A lot of girls put that though. You know that they want to marry us
and have our children. This one girl put I want to have wild sex with all three
of you at the same time. She scared me a little so I threw that one away.
“Look at this girls envelope.” I
held it up. “Doesn’t it look cool?” Ike grabbed it, looked at it, and then
handed it to Tay.
“That is nifty.” It had the lyrics
to “If Only” written on the back of the envelope. I went all the way around
many times. “Well open it and see what she has to say.” Tay waited. I opened
it and read it to myself. It was cool because she said Dear Zac, not Dear
Hanson. She was just writing to say hi, and I love you music. It was on of those
letters that has really no meaning, but you just like to get once in a while.
She didn’t say she wanted us hard core or that she wants to have our children.
(*Author’s note*: Yeah I just
described one of the many letters I wrote them. I hope their reaction was like
that, well that is if they even read the mail we send them…)
“I like these kind of letters.” I
said as I handed it to Tay so he could read it. It was only like a page and a
half long. Perfect length and nice pink writing. Well she could of used a
different color. All three of us stayed up until we read every letter in our
bag. It took a few hours but it sure tired us out.
“I won’t have a problem sleeping
now.” Ike yawned. It was 3:30 in the morning.
