Part Twelve
A few days past and we had to
get our family to the airport.
“Hurry up Jessica, I don’t
have all day to wait.” Mom yelled down the hall to her. We were waiting on
her, yet again.
“I’m ready, geeze.” She
hauled out her luggage. She had more than the others put together, I swear.
“Let’s go.” We helped put her crap in the van and went off to the airport.
“Are we there yet?” Macki was
sitting with his head leaning back looking at me.
“Does it look like it?” I
flicked him in the forehead.
“Owie! That hurt.” He turned
around and looked at me.
“You’ll get over it, I
promise.” I rolled my eyes. He turned back around a pouted for like a minute.
We finally arrived at the airport, on time too.
“How long do we have to wait
here?” Jessi was fiddling with her hair.
“Just until they call our
flight. It shouldn’t be that much longer.” My mom looked at her watch and
sighed. It seemed like we were there forever. Then finally on the speakers came
their flight number.
“Flight 182 is now boarding in
gate 4.” So we all go up and headed to gate 4.
“Well we’ll call you when we
get there.” My dad said as he gave his ticket to the lady. “Make sure when
you leave everything is off in the house and…”
“Dad, we understand.” Ike
gave him a reassuring look.
“Okay, well we will see you
soon.” My mother looked as if she were going to cry.
“Don’t worry mom, we will see
you soon.” I gave her a hug good-bye.
“Buy hunny, be good.” She
kissed me on my forehead. We all waved to one another. Soon they disappeared
onto the plane.
“Shall we go?” Tay looked at
both of us.
“I wanna see them take off.”
I went over to the window. After a while the plane finally did lift off. I
watched as they disappeared into the clouds. “Alright.” I looked at Ike and
Tay as they sat and waited for me. “We can go now.” I smiled and walked
towards the exit. We found our van and took it home.
“I’m so board!” I slept
pretty well last night. No parents or siblings. But now we had nothing to do. At
least we had air conditioning cause it was hotter than hell out. “There has to
be something to do.” We were all just chillin’ in the living room.
“If there was something to do
we would be doing it already.” Tay sarcastically stated. I decided now would
be a good time to call Randi.
“Hey is Randi home?”
“This is me you goof.” I felt
stupid for not recognizing her voice. “What’s up over there?”
“We are so board cause
there’s nothing to do.”
“Well I was jumping on my
trampoline. I put a sprinkler under it so I could cool down. Audrey and Natalie
are over too.” I could hear them in the back round.
“Audg is always over hun.” I chuckled.
“I know, cause she is the
coolest. But I don’t want to keep them waiting. So you’re coming home
tomorrow right?”
“Yeah I think so.”
“Well call me later and tell me
when you flight gets in, I’ll meet you guys at the airport.”
“Okay, I’ll call you later
then. Bye, I love you.”
“I love you too hun.” She
hung up. Well only one more day until I can return to her. I went back to join
my brothers in the living room.
“So how’s Randi?” Ike asked
me.
“Fine, she said she’ll meet
us at the airport when we fly in. I’m going to call her later to tell her when
we are supposed to get in.” I paused and looked at Ike. “So when are we
supposed to get in?”
“Oh around 8 or 8:30 at
night.”
“Alright.” I picked up my
controller to the N64. “Anyone up for a challenge?” I said with a devilish
smile on my face. “But I couldn’t do that to you. I don’t want to rub it
in that you two suck at Nintendo.” I set the controller back down.
“Oh yeah.” Tay picked up a
controller.
“Bring it on.” Ike picked up
one too. So we launched a Nintendo fest. I was defending champion, so those to
were my challengers for the title. We played for hours, until our thumbs were
sore. I still beat them both.
“Haha! I knew I would win once
again! I am the champion once again!” I paraded around the room. “ I would
like to thank the academy for this lovely award and my mom and dad for giving me
these skills. Last but not least my two pathetic brothers who suck at
Nintendo.” Just then I was hit with a pillow and then another so I fought
back. The living room cushions were now weapons. We were now involved in an all
out pillow fight. Days like these are priceless I tell you. I love having
brothers, well brothers that I can beat up.
“Zac wake up will you.” Ike
was shaking me.
“Just ten more minutes.” I
put my pillow over my head.
“It’s 2:30 already, I let you
sleep enough!” He pulled my blanket off. Like I said we have central air. I
looked up at him. He gave me ‘the look’ back.
“Fine I’ll get up.” I began
to sit up. He left me alone to get up and compose myself. I sat there in my
alien boxers looking at the floor. I glanced up into the mirror and saw my
reflection. The first thing that came to my mind was ‘damn my hair looks like
it swallowed India.’ I didn’t feel like doing anything but I knew we had to
pack up everything we needed. Today was our flight. I called Randi back last
night and told her the details. So she’s going to be there to greet me, well
us. I dug around the pile of clothes I had on my floor. To think, I actually
took the time to fold them. I found my ZZTops shirt so I threw that on.
(*Author’s note*: Yes he was wearing that shirt at my concert in Detroit!) I
tried to comb my hair but decided just to throw it up. I put my half folded
clothes in a suitcase along with the other belongs I would need to live in L.A.
“Are you sure you have
everything you need?” Ike was double checking everything.
“Yes, you asked me that three
times already.” I looked at him with the ‘give me a break’ look.
“Well let’s get it in the
car.” So we each dragged our bags out and shoved them in Ike’s trunk. Then I
saw Andi driving to our house. He is one of our good friends that we’ve known
forever.
“Why is Andi coming over?” I
looked over at Tay still trying to shove his bag in the trunk.
“Well we didn’t want to leave
the car at the airport for that long of a time so he’s goin to drive the car
back home after we leave.” Tay finally got his bag in and shut the trunk.
“Hey how are my three favorite
chick doing?” Andi walked over to us.
“I thought you were done with
the chick thing?” Ike came out of the house. If you are wondering what he’s
talking about I’ll fill you in. When we had our long hair way back when a lot
of people mistaken us for girls. Well we met him at one of our friend birthday
parties. He was like, ‘why are these girls doing here?’ So Brandon, the
birthday boy, told him we were guys. Of course we were standing right in front
of him when he had said that so he apologized. So whenever he see’s us now
he’ll calls us chicks. Well it evolved into chicks. Before he would say girls
and then babes and then chick. No big deal though, I just thought I would inform
you.
“Hey, ready Zac?” Ike was
already in the drivers seat.
“Yeah.” I hopped in the back
with Tay. We listened to the radio on the way to the airport. The Top 40
stations were all that came in really good so we liked to listen to them. We
heard Backstreet Boys, Eve, N’Sync, Britney Spears, Blink 182, Nelly,
Destiny’s Child, and some others I wasn’t sure whom. I think with our next
Cd, we might get to make it on the radio. The songs are really good and people
are really starting to like us more again. Well I hope at least. We did get to
be number one on TRL last summer. 27 days, the most of all last summer. I was
really proud of that, I mean beating out N’Sync and whatnot, that’s hard to
do. Now a days Backstreet Boys are back in the game and they’ve been number
one a lot. But I was surprised to see that the other day while watching TRL Sum
41 was number one. They beat N’Sync and Backstreet Boys. Interesting stuff
there. Well in the midst of all this thinking we arrived at the airport.
“We are a little late so lets
hurry up.” Ike popped the trunk and we got our stuff out. “Thanks Andi, just
keep the keys and we’ll get them when we come back home.”
“Alright, have fun in L.A. And
make sure to send my your Cd, I would like to hear how you’ve sucked this
time.” He snickered.
“Well not as much as last
time.” Tay laughed. Andi likes our music; he just likes to joke around with
us. He drove away as we went in the airport. It was crowded. We checked in our
luggage and waited for our plane to be called. We only had to wait for about ten
minutes because we had come in so late and because of all the people. We waited
in lines for a long time. We got on the plane. We flew first class, to make it a
little bit more relaxing because we had serious work that would leave little
time for relaxing. We sat down and the plane started to take off. While I was
sitting there I heard some giggling from behind me. I glanced back to see two
girls staring right at me. I quickly turned back around for the fact that they
both were wearing Hanson shirts. I wasn’t sure if they knew it was us. Then I
could hear them whispering.
“Was that Zac that just looked
at us? I mean is it really our sexy Hanson men right there?” I think that was
the girl with the window seat. She was about 5’1”, brown hair.
“Well I don’t want to ask and
then feel all stupid because it isn’t. But I will anyways.” Before I could
think the girl in the aisle seat with brown hair who was about 5’5”, tapped
me on the shoulder. I hesitated for a minute and then turned around.
“Yes?” I got up on my knees
and looked over the seat facing them.
“Hi, I’m Michelle and this is
Rachel. I was wondering if you were someone famous that we might know.” She
didn’t seem too nervous to ask me this though.
“You do you think I look
like?” I would screw with their minds for a little bit.
“Well,” Rachel seemed to have
to guts to start talking. “You look like maybe you were in a band.” She
smiled. Nice smile, I need to remember that.
“You mean a boy band?” I was
interested if they thought of us as one or as something else.
“Well yes, totally.” Michelle
answered first.
“No, not a boy band, but an
over the top band who is much better than anyone else.” Rachel looked at
Michelle. A disagreement. Michelle says Hanson is a boy band and Rachel thinks
we aren’t.
“Rachel Hanson is a boy band.
So is Backstreet Boys. They have different qualities but Hanson is still a boy
band.” Neither of them were even paying attention to me anymore.
“Hanson is not a boy band. That
category is way to overrated to but a band that does do everything themselves in
with a bunch of groups that can only sing.”
“BSB can play instruments, but
they do the singing part more often. Now you know I love Backstreet Boys so
don’t start dissing on them.” I love controversy.
“Sorry to interrupt but yes.”
They both looked at me funny. “Yes, I am Zac Hanson.” Their eyes lit up like
a Christmas tree.
“Not to like freak out on you
or anything but would you mind signing something or taking a picture.”
Michelle said in the calmest voice possible.
“Hold on for one second.” I
went through my carry on bag and found some of our singles. We recorded some
songs and I burned them onto Cd’s. I told Tay and Ike to sign both of them.
“Here.” I handed them to the girls.
“What Cd is this?” Rachel
opened the case.
“It’s a sample of some of our
recorded songs we’ve worked on. I thought you might like a sneak peak of some
of our music.”
“Oh my god, that is so
sweet!” Michelle put the Cd down and hinted to the camera.
“Wanna take some pictures?” I
just took the camera. They were both already on their feet. I took a few candid
ones of Ike and Tay and then some of myself. We got Tay to take a bunch of us
together. Then we woke Ike up, because he had fallen asleep, to get one big
group pic of all five of us. One of the other passengers was nice enough to take
it for us. Tay and Ike then went back to doing their own thing. I had nothing
better to do so I decided to chat with them for a bit. “How old are you
two?”
“I’m 15.” Michelle said
first.
“I’m 17.” Rachel chimed in.
“Have boyfriends?” It looked
as if they were going to drop a load when I asked that question.
“I don’t.” Michelle smiled;
well it was an odd smile.
“I do, his name is Chris.”
She said it almost in a disappointing tone. “But do you have a girlfriend?”
She said before I could even say anything. I debated for a second whether or not
I should say yes, but what the hell right?
“Yeah, her name is Randi.” I
pulled out my wallet and showed them a pic. Michelle looked at her and made this
weird face. “What?” I looked at her. I thought she was going to start saying
shit about her.
“Talk about weird.” Now
Rachel was looking at her too. Then Rachel got a look on her face too.
“Did I miss something?” They
didn’t seem to care that she was my girlfriend, but something else set
something off in their heads.
“You are going out with
Randi?” Michelle managed to spit out.
“Yeah…” I was about to say
something else but she had already turned to Rachel.
“Oh my god!! That’s the
surprise! I can’t believe this and she never told us!” Apparently Rachel
knew what Michelle was talking about.
“Not to interrupt or anything
but do you know Randi?” I had a feeling they did.
