Part Nine

I walked home and I saw some lights were still on.

“Still up?” I shut the door.

“Yeah, where have you been?” Tay was watching MTV.

“At Randi’s. We went and saw Shrek and we were just on her trampoline.”

“We who?” Tay can be stupid sometimes.

“Me, Randi, Audrey, Britney, and Natalie. Her friends.” I sat down next to him on the couch. “So what did you do all afternoon?”

“I went over and talked to Angie.”

“Really? What happened?” I didn’t think he had the guts to do that.

“Well we talked for like an hour and then we went out for lunch. I told her about the party and she said she would come.” He didn’t seem too happy though.

“Why aren’t you happy about that?”

“Well when we were at lunch Jackie showed up.” Ah shit. That’s why he isn’t happy. That girl can ruin anything. “She came up to me and begged me to go back out with her. I told her I didn’t l want to anymore because she treats me like shit and doesn’t really like me. She only likes my fame. She got really pissed and blew up. She told Angie if she ever touched me she would pay big. I tried to make her leave but she wouldn’t get the fact that I was over her. That I don’t need her in my life anymore. It was horrible and I had to let Angie take all her crap. You guys were right Jackie is a bitch. I should have listened to you before.” He acted like he did something wrong.

“Listen, it’s not your fault Jackie screwed you over. You just have a big heart and forgave her. You are a good guy. Jackie should have been lucky to have someone like you in her life. Now you can share it with someone better, like Angie or any other girl that you want. Don’t waist your time with sorrow, waist it with love.” Tay smiled.

“You’re right Zac, Jackie doesn’t deserve any tears of mine. She’s over.” Tay stood up and went to his room. It was late so I went into my room so I could rest up as well. Once I hit my pillow I was out like a light. I woke up at about 12:30 the next day.

“Get up lazy butt.” Ike threw a pillow at me.

“What time is it?” I managed to sit up.

“12:30 and in about a half hour we are going to go to lunch with our manager. He needs to talk to us.” I was forced to get up. I wonder what our manager wanted.

“Hey.” I went into the living room. “What does our manager want?” Ike looked at me.

“If I knew I would tell you, but I don’t so he has to tell us.”

“Smart ass.” I went into the kitchen to eat a little breakfast. I found a pop tart and ate that. Then I took a shower and got ready.

“Taylor, are you ready yet?” Ike pounded on Tay’s door. “It’s almost time to leave.” Tay opened it ready to go.

“Shall we?” He went straight outside.

“Finally.” I snickered. We went out to the car.

“I gotta get gas, so we’ll stop at the gas station.” Ike backed out and found the gas station with the cheapest gas. He pumped and paid so we were on our way. We pulled up in front of this restaurant called Lucy’s. It wasn’t a small place though it was quite big inside. We walked inside.

“How many?” The hostess asked.

“We’re supposed to meet someone here.” Ike told her.

“Oh are you the Hanson’s?” She knew us.

“Yes.” Ike smiled.

“Oh than right this way.” She showed up to our table where our manager was already waiting for us.

“Hello boys, sit down. I have some news for you that I thought we should discuss.” He took a drink from whatever he had.

“Would you boys like something to drink?” The waitress asked us.

“Three Dr. Peppers please.” Ike ordered for us too. “So what’s up?” Ike continued.

“Well first of all your Cd is coming along nicely. When you finish you have a small break for yourselves and then you start your world tour. We have some of the dates all ready set up and ready. That’s not what I wanted to talk to you about.” The waitress came with our pops. I had no idea what he was going to tell us. I was getting a little antsy cause it must have been somewhat important if he wanted to tell us to our faces. “CBS had contacted me and wanted to know if you three would be willing to do a TV special for them. I said I would get back to him after I talked to you three. What they want to happen is for you to play songs on a stage in front of an audience as well as have one of their people interview you about your personal lives. I know you guys don’t like to give away information on your lives so that’s why I’m talking to you first. They faxed me a paper with all the things they want to know well and what your fans want to know. They had letter come in and these were the top questions people want to know about you three.” I looked at the paper. They had the normal questions like what’s your new Cd like? When can we expect you on tour? Then the one that was number one for what the fans wanted to know. You’d never guess do you have a girlfriend? I know it sounds stupid but we like to keep our personal life, well that aspect of it, to ourselves. People don’t need to know who I go out with or what size shoe I wear. Come on, this is about the music. Taylor is the one who cares most about keeping his life a secret.

“We have to answer all of these?” Tay looked up from the sheet.

“Well yeah, it’s what the viewers want. That’s why I asked you first.” Tay looked a little disappointed.

“What if we just did a few of the questions?” Tay is very personal.

“The guy said all or nothing. Either you can give out such information or just forget about it all together.”

“That’s so stupid. What right do they have to tell us what we can or cannot do?”

“Tay, who cares if the people know who we are dating or what color boxers we wear. It’s not like that’s who we are.” I want to do a TV special. I had watched the one the Backstreet Boys had done a while ago. I wanted to do the same thing. We get to perform live with a lot of people watching us on TV and in person. Plus it’s a big TV station that millions of views watch. This was a good deal. Why should we be afraid to show our feelings? I got a letter from a fan once. Her name was Rebecca. She made a good point too. She said that whether you like it or not people want to know what goes on in your personal life. You can hide it, but that will only make people want to know more. If you have a girlfriend come clean so we can go obsess over other guys. We will still listen to your music but we will have more respect for you because you weren’t too stuck up or ashamed to hide your feelings. I think she had a point. I’m not afraid to tell the world that I am in love with a beautiful girl. I’m all for this.

“Why should we have to share personal information with the world?”

“Why should we be embarrassed of ourselves or the people around us? Come on, I don’t care, I’ll sign any form they want.” I looked at our manager. He seemed pleased with my decision. “Come on you two. I don’t want this to be a one man show.” I looked at them.

“I’ll do it.” I don’t think Ike cared anyway. “Come on Tay, its no big deal.” Tay thought about it for a minute.

“Well you can’t do it with out me. So I’m in I guess.”

“Good, I’ll have the paper work by tomorrow. I’ll drop it by your house. Now let’s order some food.” We all ate a nice meal and left. Back at our house, well our temporary house, there was a message on our machine.

“Hey guys.” It was our mother back home. “It’s about two over here, I need to talk to you so call me when you get home. I love you bye.”

“I’ll call her back.” I picked up the phone and dialed our number. “Hi Jess, is mom there?”

“Yeah but I’m on the other line.”

“Mom left a message so I need to talk to her.”

“Oh that, hold on a sec.” If Jess knew about it then something must have been wrong. Well at least I thought.

“Hello?” It was my mother.

“Hi mom, you called us?”

“Oh yes hun. I have some news for you.” I thought she was talking about the show.

“About the show? We already know about it.”

“No hunny, something else.” Now I was curious. “See your father has been transferred to Michigan for his job. Not permanent but we have to go stay there for a while. So you guys are going to be staying in L.A while we’re gone.” My dad got transferred again.

“Do you want us to come home and see you guys off?” I didn’t want them to leave with out me seeing them first.

“Well that’s up to you three. I’ll tell you what; you tell your brothers and then make a decision. Call me later then okay?”

“All right mom. I’ll talk to you later. Bye”

“Bye I love you.” I hung up the phone.  Well it was obvious we had to go no matter what. I went into the living room where Tay and Ike were.
