Part Seven
While
Michelle laid in her bed, she thought to herself. She didn’t know how other
people would react to her. Everyone knew she was famous and she wasn’t sure
how other people would react to her coming back to school. Dayna really had
nothing to worry about since no one knew she was going to go on tour with Hanson
yet. Mish was pretty scared to go to school. A lot of people that she remembered
didn’t like Hanson what-so-ever so she might get harassed or something. Well
that wouldn’t be anything new so that was okay. She finally fell asleep just
to be woken up by her beeping alarm clock.
“7:30
already. I don’t want to go to school. Wait, it’s the first day, shit!”
She
got ready in like ten minutes and was out the door. She walked to school since
it was so close to her house. When she got there she was surprised at the
reaction she got from everyone.
“Hi
Michelle, I went to the Hanson concert when they came here, it was great!”
“Oh,
thank you, it was fun doing it.”
“Do
you think we could get an autograph from you. If it’s not to much trouble?”
“Well,
sure I don’t see why not.” Mish was elated to see how many people changed
their minds about Hanson. Then a lot of people that didn’t even like her
before started to come up and ask for autographs and about her trip with Hanson.
Mish had no idea that the people at her school weren’t being all stuck up and
just saying Hanson sucks and move on. Some people even came up to her and said
they saw the Hanson concert just because she was in it. Before she only had a
few friends and now everyone loved her. She found Dayna when she finally got to
her locker, they picked them right next to each other.
“Oh
my god Dayna, all these people wanted my autographs and stuff. It was insane.
Even all the popular stuck-up people were nice to me. I was so surprised. I
thought everyone hated Hanson.”
“Well,
I guess not, well by next year I bet the same thing will happen to me. I will be
going on tour, right?”
“Yeah,
oh by the way, are you going to talk to Isaac at all? I called Tay yesterday and
he said Ike really misses you and all that mushy crap.”
“Maybe,
we’ll just have to wait and see.” Dayna left obviously upset and worried.
So
they went through the school day and the next and the next. School seemed to go
by pretty fast. Michelle tried out for the school plays and stuff. She got one
of the leading roles in Oliver Twist,
which was the musical for the school year. She helped out and got some small
parts in the play they did, The Diary of
Anne Frank. Dayna really just hung with Mish and her other friends. She did
talk to Ike finally too, well when he finally got the balls to call her that is.
“Hello,
may I please speak to Dayna” Ike says shakily.
“Um,
hold on a sec,” Her brother Jon says. “DAYNA!!!! Some guy is on the phone
for you!”
“Hello.”
Her voice was unusually flat.
“Hi
Dayna, it’s Isaac…”
Click.
Before he could finish she hung up and went back to her hole. He wasn’t sure
if he should call back but he did anyway. He really needed to talk to her.
“Hi,
is Dayna there?”
“Hold
on.” Her brother answered again. “DAYNA! PHONE!”
“Hello
Ike, I really am not in the mood to talk to you.”
“Wait,
just hear me out, please.” His voice sounded really desperate.
“Fine
you got ten minutes.”
“Okay,
I am really sorry for what happened. I really just tried to push things to far
to fast and I am really in hell right now. I can’t stop thinking about you; I
can’t get you off my mind. I think about you all the time. Please, you have to
forgive me because I am in hell without you. Do you forgive me?” He was
practically crying over the phone.
“Isaac,
your ten minutes are up. Either say good-bye to me or the dial tone make your
choice!” Even though he couldn’t hear it over the phone, the tears were
endlessly streaming down her face.
“Fine,
good-bye.” She hung up and needed a hanky.
“I
love you.” Ike whispers after the dial tone is ringing through his head. Tay
and Zac witnessed this phone conversation, and Zac had the cordless phone and
was listening to the whole thing. They felt bad for Ikey-poo. Zac felt it was
his duty to do something about the big mess. He went to the one person who could
help. Michelle.
“Hi,
is Mishy there?”
“Hold
on.” The cranky voice of her disgruntled brother came out.
“Hello.”
“Hi,
it’s Zac, I have a big ol’ problem here. Ikey just called Dayna and she was
really harsh to him. Tay and I here feel really bad. We need you to talk some
sense into her. And she won’t even answer the phone anymore.”
“Okay,
I’ll try my best, but she is very stubborn. Let me tell Bruce that I have some
stuff to do and then I’ll call you later. Okay, bye!”
She
hung up but Zac was just a tid bit confused. You could tell by the look on his
face.
“Zac,
what did she say and why do you have that look on your face?” Tay was getting
kind of antsy.
“Well,
she said she would talk to Dayna and she, well I don’t know how to tell you
this but she had some guy named Bruce over or something.”
Tay
just shit a brick. “She WHAT!”
“Um,
yeah, they are probably just friends or something.” But by the look on Zac’s
face, it didn’t seem like it. Taylor had butterflies in his stomach. He had to
find out who this friend of hers was. He called her back.
“Hi,
is Michelle there?” His voice was serious.
“Yeah
this is. Is something wrong Tay?” She knew who it was.
“Yeah,
Zac said that you had a friend over by the name of Bruce and I was just
wondering who this guy is?”
“He
is just my friend. I swear. I would never cheat on you.”
“Oh,
okay then, go call Dayna, love ya bye!”
“Bye.”
She hung up the phone but wasn’t sure if he believed her. She decided to blow
it off like it was nothing and go walk Bruce home. They were just friends
though. Just close friends. They were holding hands on the way home, but that
doesn’t mean anything right. Well the media was alerted. They took pictures of
this and sent a big story to the papers on how she was cheating on Taylor. The
paper was sent out the next day. She woke up, ate some breakfast, and glanced at
the paper. Only when she looked at the front page there was a big picture of her
and Bruce on it. She dropped her glass and it shattered all over the place. She
cut her foot open and didn’t even realize it. She called Dayna right away.
“Oh
my god! I think I am going to die! Dayna, I swear this is not what it looks
like. We are just friends, you know that right.” Mish was stressing out.
“I
know, but I think Taylor is going to see this since this is a world wide
newspaper and all. Sorry sucks to be you, though. Hey have you talked to
Isaac?”
“Why
do you care, I thought you never wanted to see him or speak to him again?”
Mish was getting suspicious.
“Well
. . . uh . . . I don’t but you know I was just wondering if he was still hung
up on me! I mean . . .” her voice broke off.
“D,
if really care all that much about him, why don’t you just get over your
stubbornness, call him, apologize and forgive him.” She knew Dayna really
cared at least now she admitted it.
“I
can’t, you know that” she had completely broken down into tears now. “Mish
this is horrible, I love him so much and I can’t tell him. What am I so afraid
of, actually being happy!?!”
“I
have got a great idea, hold on now, and just listen.”
“Okay”
“I
have to fly out to New York next week. I am going to be on TRL. Come with me.
Stay outside the studio though, across the street. Make sure you’re by
yourself though so you’re easy to spot. Then while the guys and I are being
interviewed I’ll be able to find you, point you out to Ike and have Carson
bring you up. You and Ike can get together on national television. How does that
sound to you?”
“Great,
but will it work?”
“Of
course, it has to.”
“What
if he never wants to see me again?”
“He
will, trust me.”
They
hung up the phone and right when Mish put the phone down it rang again. She
checked the caller id. It was an Oklahoma call. She could feel her whole body
shake. She knew it was Taylor calling. She sucked it up and answered.
“Hello.” A little squeaky voice chimes out.
“Hi,
Michelle. I just read today’s paper. It was really interesting. The front page
really caught my attention. There was this huge picture of you and your
so-called friend Bruce. What the hell is that all about Michelle? Explain it to
me why I have to be humiliated because my girlfriend is cheating on me?”
“Listen,
it’s not what you think” The tears fell and she was now hysterical. “We
were just walking and holding hands. It doesn’t mean anything, we really are
just friends. You have to believe me. I would never do anything like to you and
you know it!” She was about to die. She couldn’t lose him, she just
couldn’t.
“Yeah.
Maybe after you are done hoein’ around, I’ll talk to you. You know what, I
just don’t want to talk to you at all.” He hung up and she just collapsed
onto her bed. She just laid there and cried. The phone would ring but she just
ignored it. She stopped crying after awhile and stared at the picture of the
guys she got out of a magazine. She just felt like never moving again. She
didn’t want to go out because of what the people might do. The phone was still
ringing off the hook so she decided to answer it. It was Hanson’s manager. He
wanted some answers.
“So,
is this true what I am reading in the paper?”
“No,
and you know what, tell the boys that I am not coming to TRL next week to do the
interview. I’ll just stay home.”
She
hung up and then disconnected the phone so no one could call her. There was a
different vibe at the Hanson household though. Their manager had told them she
wasn’t going to be on TRL. Zac and Ike weren’t happy with that but Taylor
was apparently.
“Good,
we don’t need that whore to be with us. She can go join the Backstreet Boys
for all I care.”
“Taylor,
you know that this isn’t true. It just can’t be!” Zac was defending her.
“Well,
I believe she would do this. I just wasn’t good enough for her. Hell she even
kissed you for crying out loud.” Tay said that just because he was mad. He
really didn’t mean it.
